Having recently purchased a house that needed a full makeover one of the most terrifying jobs was a new roof, we thought we would go the whole hog and have the shape of the roof completely changed from a double hipped to gable and have the space converted into a usable double bedroom and en-suite shower room.
We already had a builder lined up for the work on the rest of the house but decided we would like a quote from a specialist company for the roof/loft conversion as it was such a large job. NK Lofts were recommended by friends who had recently used them, they couldn’t find fault in their work so we gave them a call. Right from the very first meeting we were impressed; other builders came and seemed to do a lot of head scratching. Nigel, however, seemed to know exactly what we wanted, how NK Lofts would do it and had drawings with us within a week. Work started as soon as we got the go ahead from building control.
During this time we were having a few problems with the builder we had commissioned to carry out the works on the rest of the house. NK Lofts stepped in and took over the whole project- walls stripped to brick, insulation throughout the entire house, complete re-plaster, chimney breasts out, new glass banisters installed, electrics, bathrooms (the list goes on!) NK Lofts seems to have no end to their resources, and as soon as we were ready for the next job to start the required tradesman was on site within days and Nigel oversaw it all, seemingly without any real effort, project management at its best.
I have no doubt that the work done throughout the house by NK Lofts was of a far higher standard than we were getting from our previous builder and all the work was at the same cost as or cheaper!

As a house wife and mother of a one year old it was of concern to me who I would be having in the house every day and it was important to me that I still felt comfortable in my home and could approach the builders directly to raise any issues or concerns. Rest assured all the guys Nigel uses are genuinely good chaps, who we felt happy having in our home. They were mindful and considerate that we were living in the house as the works were being completed and made sure the house was made not only safe but clean at the end of each day. They gave us lots of great DIY tips and even lent a few tools to my husband to save us the cost of buying/hiring things.
Nothing we asked at any point throughout the project was too much trouble, I was told several times by several of the men words to the effect "you are the customer; it’s our job to give you what you want". I hope Nigel realises how lucky NK Lofts are to have such great people working for them.
NK Lofts weren’t the cheapest (or most expensive) quote we had but they are worth every single penny. We budgeted around 20% over our initial quote (as is always wise when taking on any building works) but NK Lofts try their very best to stick to budget and don't seem to quibble over small costs here and there, and I'm sure swallowed the cost of things that other builders would have added onto the final bill. If we asked for anything additional to the original quote then we were charged a fair price for it and at no point did we feel any pressure or lose sleep thinking that the budget was getting out of control (which I hear can be so common!)
I cannot thank them enough, they were a pleasure to have in our home, we would recommend them to anyone and use them again in a second. If only they did extensions (the next job on our list)!

The conversion itself is done to a very high standard using every bit of space. The open stairway, lots of light from the big windows and the large bathroom. We love it all.

What a big glorious and wonderful space your team has created for us in what was, and I say this honestly, a rather over-stuffed loft. I have got to say that anyone thinking of using your team will have to put behind them any stereotype they may have of builders as you certainly do not fit it..... They arrived prompt at 7:30 am every morning and would declare what they wanted to achieve that day not leaving until it was done and they worked very hard to ensure that we had the place back to us by 5:00 pm.
We are left with a small hole in our lives in not seeing them everyday but with a real quality space to add to our bungalow.

Loft is now fully finished, hoorah, carpeted, decorated, staircase stained, fitted with wardrobes etc.. All finalised on monday so am now ready to sell your fantastic workmanship.

We chose NK Conversions from half a dozen or so quotes we received as we were impressed by their professionalism and friendliness (as well as the competitive price!). During the work everything we asked for was accommodated, even reviewing and changing details as the work progressed.
