Loft conversion construction stages:

Week 1

Scaffolding erected. Water tanks moved. Steel beams installed. New floor joists constructed.

Week 2

Velux windows installed. If dormer required, then dormer shell constructed. If gable needed, then gable wall built up as per plans. Flat roof constructed.

Week 3

First installation of electrics, plumbing, and heating.

Week 4

Ceiling taken down above existing stairwell. New stairs fitted. Plasterboard and smooth plaster finish to underside of stairs.

Week 5

Partition walls erected, insulated and plastered. Second installation of electrics, plumbing and heating.

Week 6

The finishing touches. Carpentry work completed including architraves, skirtings and doors. Smoke alarms fitted. Final visit from local authority building control.
